I'm worried about my elderly parents, but how do I know when it is time to step in to help?

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Aid and Attendance Benefit. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) supplemental benefit program, Aid and Assistance, may help with additional income to elderly veterans and their surviving spouses. A veteran or surviving spouse who is receiving or entitled to receive disability benefits (pension, death pension, or Dependency Indemnity Compensation) from VA and requires help with their activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, or feeding may qualify for this special benefit.
